Final Steps

Today I went over every page of my website and user manual to make sure there were no typos or spelling errors.  Both are now completed.  I am just making sure that I have all the documents finished and printed off for submission tomorrow in night class.  I would like to share my lessons learned from this project:

There are lessons to be learned with any project, especially with one as detailed and demanding as a senior project.  The main lesson that I learned while doing my senior project, is that I wish I had managed my time better.  Since I had already had a good idea of what I was doing early on, there were often times that I felt that I could take a few days off and not worry about the project.  I did set goals and deadlines for myself that I believe kept me on a decent track for the semester to compete the project on time.
The main advice that I could give someone that has to take senior project, is start the research early.  I felt that because I had taken Communication Research the semester before, I was already a head in the process compared to a majority of my classmates.  Another piece of advice that I would give would be to figure out a general idea of what you want to do for Senior Project, before you decide what you are doing for Communication Research.  This will help narrow down a topic for the Communication Research paper.  The biggest lesson that I think was learned from everyone in the class, is that Communication Research is a necessity in order to be better prepared for Senior Project.

Crunch Time

I have reviewed over Dr. Robinson's feedback on my user manual and I have made my corrections.  I will re-read over it again tomorrow to make sure there are no grammatical errors.  I have also completed many more articles and I will continue to add more up until Monday, when the final documents are to be handed in.

Update as of March 28th

I uploaded my Final draft of my user manual over the weekend to myfiles for Dr. R to look over before I print out the final copy.  This week I will be adding more articles to the website and creating another youtube clip to add to an article.  I will also be attending a few events that the athletes are taking part in this week to take more pictures and to write more articles.  Tonight I will be revising my Annotated Bib, so that it is ready for the final deliverable.

first movie completed

Since my last post, I have added more features to my website, including links to different pages to make navigation much more easier.  I have also had to edit my user manual because the layout of weebly.com has changed some.

Today, I have created my first youtube clip for my website.  This clip is of the women's soccer team, the night that they participated on the S.T.A.T Brown Bag project.  I used iMovie that is on my MacBook Pro.  It was relatively easy to figure out how to create a video.  I added some text to help explain things further and I was also able to add names under the people that are talking.  I also wanted to make sure that I had parts of the video where the girls were being interviewed.  I had two "interviews" of two different members of the team that participated.

I am just waiting to show Dr. R to see if she has any suggestions before I upload it.  I have to put the video on youtube before I can upload it so I want to get it looked at before I do that.

Update!!

It has been a while since my last post, so here is an update on what I have completed to date.

~I have completed my annotated bibliography and I am just waiting on the feedback.  This semesters Ann. Bib. was a lot less stressful than last semesters in Comm. Research, because I was able to use the research that I had done last semester.  I think it is a good idea that they are changing the requirements, and making comm. research a requirement before Senior Project, since there is so much to do for this project.

~I am also pretty far in my website.  I have the website created, and I also have 5 articles completed, and I am working on numbers 6 and 7 at the moment.  I try to get a lot of quotes of how the athletes feel and what their thoughts are on the projects that they participate in.  This helps give them a voice.  I am also trying to incorporate as many pictures and youtube clips as possible.
This last Sunday, I went out to the polar plunge to video tape a friend of mine jumping into the lake to raise money for Special Olympics.  I am most excited about this one because they are not as many male athletes that I have stories for.

~ I am also working on my User Manual.  This is actually a little more time consuming then I thought it would be because I am trying to break down every single step so that there is no confusion for the viewer.  So far I have 9 pages completed.
